Fans can now discover their favourite players’ music on Deezer.

Berlin, 6 February 2019 – The global audio streaming service Deezer has announced a partnership with Borussia Dortmund (BVB), the current Bundesliga leaders. With this cooperation, the streaming provider is extending its activities in the world of sports and football in particular.

Deezer is now exclusively integrated into the official BVB app. In the new category “Music”, fans can now find individual match day playlists for each game. The eight-time German champions also have their own channel on Deezer, with exclusive playlists curated by selected BVB players such as Jacob Bruun Larsen, Marco Reus, Marcel Schmelzer and Julian Weigl.

Every time the team plays a game there will also be a playlist available for fans to stream that matches the mood in the stadium and will further boost the already impressive atmosphere in the  stadium’s South Bank with hymn-like, energetic songs. The first match day soundtrack went live  for the match against Hoffenheim on 9 February. In each playlist, the opponent will also be represented by at least one song. For example, the song “A Reason to Fight” by Disturbed was selected for the Hoffenheim game.

Music and football have a long tradition, from warm-up songs to stadium anthems to the favourite songs of the players or artists who are enthusiastic fans. As official music partner of Borussia Dortmund, Deezer is bringing its music streaming services directly to the club’s fans in a way that is highly relevant and targeted and will bring the close relationship between music and football even closer together.” is how Ralph Pighin, VP Central & Eastern Europe at Deezer describes the partnership.

Carsten Cramer, BVB Managing Director for Sales, Marketing & Digitisation, says: “We are very excited about the partnership with Deezer. Music, like football, has the power to unite people. With Deezer we have the ideal partner by our side to get even closer to our fan base through music.”

Deezer has been involved in various activities and partnerships in the field of sports for many years. Since December 2016, the global audio streaming service has also been the official music partner of Manchester United.

The partnership was brokered by BVB marketing partner Lagardère Sports. Thomas Joos, BVB team leader at Lagardère Sports, adds: “Music and sports are closely linked and both create strong emotions. With Deezer as BVB’s official music partner, there are many exciting activation opportunities that all parties will benefit from – especially the club’s fans.”
